Fast Track Special Court (FTSCs)
Fast Track Special Court (FTSCs) is a Specialized courts established in India. It is Centrally Sponsored Scheme. It was Implemented by and under the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice.
About Fast Track Special Court (FTSCs)
- Scheme was formulated in August 2019 following the directions from the Supreme Court of India in a suo moto Writ Petition (Criminal).
- Main Aim – Expediting the trial process for cases related to sexual offenses, particularly those involving rape and violations under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).
- Central Government enacted the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act in 2018, which introduced stricter punishments, including the death penalty for rape offenders.
Functions of FTSCs
- These courts support State/UT Government efforts to provide timely justice to victims of sexual offense, even in remote and far-flung areas.
- These were set up to ensure the swift dispensation of justice for such cases.
- These were established on alarming frequency of Sexual Offenses and the prolonged duration of trials in regular courts, which resulted in delayed justice for victims.

- The First Fast Track Court (POCSO court) has issued an arrest warrant against former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa in a case registered against him on March 14 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
- Recently, the Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of Fast Track Special Court (FTSCs) for three more years till 2026.
