  • Initially, the strength of CISF is 2,800 and was increased to 1,77,713 as of 01.06.2024.

  • CISF has 74 other formations including 12 reserve battalions and 08 training institutes.
  • CISF was subsequently made an armed force.
  • It is directly under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

  • Increase of no. of Battalion
    • Each battalion will consist of 1,025 personnel. With this addition, the total number of CISF battalions will increase from 13 to 15.
  • Women CISF Reserve Battalion
    • In November last year, the government had sanctioned the first-ever all-women CISF reserve battalion comprising more than 1,000 personnel.
